What can I say about 2 year olds…what a handful!! The first picture is of half of the mess Parker made a couple of days ago. A huge Sam’s Club bag full of Goldfish spilt all over the floor in 2 different spots. If I took a picture of every mess that this child makes on a daily basis I would have no space on my phone for anything else. Today he learned how to open the vacuum filter and spilt that all over the floor. It never fails that when I am feeding Elizabeth I will hear a chair being pushed across the kitchen floor upstairs and I get scared of what he is getting into now. Today I also found that he got into the homemade bread that I made yesterday and ate it in his room. The crumbs were a dead give away! A couple of nights ago I found him in his room with a big bag of chips, a hot dog and a plate full of Cheetos. I looked at him, he looked at me and just gave a look like, “your are welcome! I found myself a snack!” He knows how to open doors now, which is great because he can go in and out to the backyard when he feels like it, but it is not great because he can now open the pantry and help himself to whatever snack he wants and the laundry room. We keep a lot of food in the laundry room as well. He is talking like crazy these days and repeats everything we say. He is just so dang entertaining and looks at you with those big blue eyes and you just can’t help but smile at him. He is a character. Oh 2 year olds!!! The sad thing is this isn’t even half of what he does in one 12 hour day. It’s a good thing he is so dang cute and funny!

One Month Old
I can’t believe how fast this month has gone by with Elizabeth. She is such an amazing baby! She is easy going and has the cutest little cry (I don’t even know if you can call it a cry) It is kind of just a little yelp that makes me laugh every time I here it. I have tried to get it on video, but she stops every time I break out the camera. David, Maggie and Parker still just adore her and are always asking to hold her. She loves to sleep and gets annoyed if I try to feed her, when she isn’t hungry. She holds up her head like a pro and is growing like a weed. I just weighed her and she is…11 pounds, if our scale is right. She can’t be that big! She is gaining like a pound a week. She loves her daddy and loves for him to hold her, which is so nice for me to be able to get a break here and there. She sleeps in her bassinet and is not a fan of the swing at all. She is my first kid to not only sleep in the swing. She always sleeps with her hands in some cute position. She loves the curtains in our bedroom and just stares at them all the time. She still loves to be snuggles and swaddled. She doesn’t mind who is holding her ever. She also likes her alone time. Sometimes I will have been laying with her all morning and snuggling with her and she will start getting fussy, but won’t want to eat and doesn’t have a dirty diaper. I will lay her down in a bouncy seat or just where ever and she just immediately calms down. I am so not used to any of these independent traits she has, especially after Parker who needed my full attention 24/7 for the first 21 months of his life. Very hard not to compare the 2 of them, since they are polar opposites! We just love little Lizzy and she is such a great addition to our family. Happy One Month!!
Molly’s Shower
So Trish and I decided to throw a very last minute Baby Shower for Molly! We were so happy to do it. Any excuse for Trish and I to make lots of yummy food, we take it! So last Saturday we had a shower for her at Trish’s clubhouse. We focused mainly on the food. We made home-made chicken nuggets that taste just like Chick-fila! Yum! We also made spinach dip, fruit kabobs, Reese’s cupcakes, Rolo Cupcakes, vegetable kabobs, A cookie cake and Caprisuns…which are Molly’s favorite drink since being pregnant. It was quite the spread. Trish and I both kept thinking of things that we wanted to make for it and just had a hard time stopping. It was a very low key yet fun and delicious shower. Molly and Gabe got some cute stuff! Lots of cute clothes, bedroom essentials, bathtub, carrier and stroller. I am sure that I am forgetting something, but you get the idea! We had everyone give Molly some words of advise for little Penny.
We can’t wait to meet little Penny Elizabeth in a few weeks and are so excited for Gabe and Molly. They are going to be such amazing parents and we have already apologized to Molly for all of the quirks that little Penny is sure to have after Gabe has made fun of all of our kids silly things for so many years. Oh how the tables will turn! We love little babies and love to spoil them!
Pinewood Derby
David is the Elders Quorum president in our church and it is an amazingly busy calling. Between meeting with all the families in the ward, meeting with his presidency, stake meetings, ward meetings, helping people move, cleaning (aka coordinating who cleans) the church, snow removal, and so many other things that I know that I am forgetting and/or don’t know about. It is what we call a full time calling in our church. David has been serving for 2 and a half years now. David came up with the idea to have a Pinewood Derby for the men in our ward. He was thinking that he would get maybe 10 people to sign up, if he was lucky. He got about 47 that actually signed up. It was a great surprise! So after months of hearing about this car that David was going to make the day finally came! I don’t even want to say how many hours and how much money actually went into making this car everything that David wanted it to be. But a few new tools and a few trial runs later the car was ready.
The day of the derby was CRAZY busy. I had a baby shower in the morning and then David wanted me to make cookie cakes for it as well as trophies for that night. We made the trophies thanks to Hobby Lobby and my amazing Silhouette! David cut out some wood for the base and then we put different wooden shapes on them and labeled them. We had 10 trophies and they turned out great! So that night we went and everyone had a great time. There were only 10 cars there that night, but a ton of families! They raced 3 at a time. David’s car won some races until the last race. He let Maggie hold the remote…did I forget to mention that David made it a remote controlled car?! So he let Maggie take control and she “accidently” pushed the button too soon and the car flew backwards off the track! It was pretty funny and everyone was so excited to see David’s car lose. He was killing most of the cars up until then. It was such a fun night and everyone there said we should make this an annual thing. Next year we will at least know what is coming!
For those interested David made his car out of the derby car, parts from a remote controlled car, a mouse trap and a plastic ice cream box. He set it up so that he could use a remote control to push it off with a mouse trap if he wasn’t winning and it would speed up his car quite a bit. It was pretty neat! He did a great job with it. If was fun to see everyone’s different ideas for them. Very fun project for those boys at heart!
Meme’s Visit
We were so lucky to have 3 grandmas out here for so long! Sherrie and Grandma Turnbull came out here on March 30th. Just one day after little Lincoln was born. We were lucky to have Grandma Turnbull stay with us the full first week. Sherrie was with Giselle and little Lincoln majority of the time. We got to have everyone over for Sherrie’s birthday to help her celebrate. I gave my mom the night off, since it was her last night in town and made chicken enchiladas and carrot cake. We did presents as well. Maggie gave Meme 2 of her favorite dolls. So cute! We also gave her a Willow Tree statue and a necklace. Parker was nice enough to open all the presents for her. We loved having Meme here to help her celebrate her special day. It has been too long. After my mom left, Sherrie came and spent Friday through Sunday with us and we were so glad! On Thursday she came and got Maggie and they had a great time shopping the whole day. Sherrie kept thinking that Maggie would get tired and be ready to go home, but Maggie is my daughter and that is a very rare thing! Then on Friday she took Maggie, David and Parker to the Dinosaur museum at Thanksgiving point and spent a good 5 hours there. They had the best time. Then Saturday I had a baby shower to go to in the morning and then that night we had a Pinewood Derby that David was having for the Elder’s Quorum. I will post more about that later. Then Sunday we had Elizabeth’s baby blessing and Sherrie and Grandma headed back to the south. It was so great to have them here and we love every minute that we get to spend with them. Thanks so much to Mama T. and Grandma for all the help you gave us with y’all’s visit! Y’all are amazing and we sure miss you both!
